My Burning Man Experience 2022

I was people watching inside and came across a beautiful woman by the name of Pilar. I was watching her face in awe of the structure and it tickled me to see that sense of wonder in the art before her. I told her that the look on her face was why I wanted to come to Burning Man. We lose it in life, that childlike gaze upon something so wonderous and magical that you can’t help but get lost in it. She told me that it was her 23rd burn and she was 73 years old. I swear that lady made me so joyous in knowing that we can get to an age many people think is quiet and still inspire me to feel vibrant and full of life like her.

Pilar and I at the Temple

We had a wonderful converstaion and she gifted me a pin to commemorate our connection. I was wearing the cape I made myself and I guess I had looked the part but she asked me if I was a guardian of the temple. I giggled because she was the second person to have asked me but to be fair, I did have a cape on. Thought I would see more capes due to the elements but I was not the majority. So she took a picture of me in my cape at the temple and sent it to me. I love this picture so much because you can tell how happy I am in my element, my creation and my place in the world.

Me and my cape I made

After the sun set, the exterior landscape began to take on a different vibe.

We ventured out of the temple and began taking in the life around us. Art began to emerge from all angles and it was such a pleasure to walk back to camp observing it all. The sunset was a gorgeous backdrop for everything. I have to say that the sunsets were breathtaking.

But once the night set in the city’s art became it up in such a fun way that you had to be a part of it with the lights you chose to adorn yourself with. My friend Grover had an amazing mask that just looked wicked in the dark.
